
AJ English Digital won for the Website, Interactive and Opinion categories.
Al Jazeera English won five top prizes and two highly commended second places at the 2023 Drum Online Media Awards (OMA). The winners were announced at Drum OMA’s annual awards ceremony in London on 13 June.
Al Jazeera English Online Manager, Soraya Salam, won Editorial Executive of the Year for managing the expansion of the AJ English website and excellence in global news coverage as the site continues to chart unprecedented growth and innovation.
The website’s interactive unit, AJ Labs, won technical innovation of the year for its AI predictor game for how its AI robot stacks up against actual FIFA World Cup soccer wins.
And the AJ English Opinions category won in the Best Commentary/Blogging category for excellence in expert and emerging global voices of opinion.

Al Jazeera English channel also won two OMAs. Journalist Ali Roy won Content Creator of the Year for his multi-part series, All Hail the Planet, which dives deep into environmental issues, from the global problem of plastic and pollution from megacities to the effectiveness of carbon footprint offsets. .
Multiple award winner 101 East The team won in the Video Team of the Year category for A Sense of Community, a four-part series that looks at how global communities are coming together to adapt and survive the daunting challenges of living in the 21st century.

AJ+ was also awarded a highly commended second place in Editorial Campaign of the Year for its multi-language coverage of the killing of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh by Israeli forces.
On the back of multiple international awards, AJ+ French journalist, Rémy Nsabimana, was also awarded a highly commended award for Journalist of the Year.
The Drum Online Media Awards honors original, thought-provoking work across all platforms. They are open to editorial teams and media owners of any size, and recognize influential and innovative work from around the world.
